What is the Net-Metering Program?

Great question. On the side of your house you have a smart meter that keeps track of the electricity you use. This program rolls the meter backwards from clean energy. So you don’t pay your utility company anything for electricity! Giving you the ability to have a locked in, fixed lower rate.

What if I move? Will solar panels increase the value of my home?

Not a problem. You have a few options. Transfer the left-over payments to the new owner. This makes sense for both party’s . Your new home owner benefits by having a lower, fixed monthly payment, with an end date. You benefit because…

Solar panels are a hot commodity for homes. In fact, according to National Renewable Energy Laboratory, homes with solar panels sold 20% faster and for 17% more.* Homeowners across the country want in on clean energy, and are willing and ready to make the investment. That’s why the hardest thing about moving won’t be selling your home—it’ll be saying sayonara to those beautiful, money-saving panels on your roof. Now when you sell your house it is worth 17% more!

Will I notice anything different after I go solar?

After you switch, you won’t notice a difference. Your lights, appliances, televisions and everything else that uses electricity will work exactly as they did before.

Because of weather and seasonal changes, your utility bill will vary from month to month. But with Solar you end up with a fixed-lower payment that replaces your power bill.

How will it appear on my bill?

When your solar panels produce more solar power than you use, your solar energy system sends the excess solar energy to the grid. With a net metering agreement, you get credit for that excess electricity - usually as a kWh credit that will show up on your next month's bill or as a total sum at the end of the year.

Does solar save you money?

Yes, with all the sunshine in Florida, it's very likely that at times your solar system will produce too much energy for your home.

... Every 1 kilowatt hour (kWh) of power sent to the grid is 1 kWh off of your electricity bill; this is how solar pays for itself.

Is my home good for solar?

A lot of things affect how well-suited your home is for solar, including where your home is, the angle of your roof, how much shade it gets throughout the day, and how old your home is.

Our solar advisors can help you determine if your home is a good fit for solar at the moment. They’ll run a custom analysis of your home with our solar design technology, Solo, and they’ll get a sense for your energy needs.

How many solar panels will my home need?

Every household is different. When determining the number of solar panels your home needs, consider the following questions:

How much power do I need? Check your electric bills to see how many kilowatt hours (kWhs) you use throughout the year. We’ll go over this with you in detail during your free solar consultation to figure out just how much power your panels will need to produce.
